Greg Barnhill’s music is timeless. He crosses all boundaries and genres. He is a Grammy nominated songwriter, an A-list vocalist, a top-notch producer – in short, a brilliant musical mind.Originally from New Orleans, Barnhill has been writing and performing his whole life. His songs have been embraced by artists from Etta James to Martina McBride and Jessica Simpson to Chicago. “Walkaway Joe,” recorded by Trisha Yearwood and Don Henley, was a significant milestone to his career. “To have a hero of mine like Don Henley sing my song was incredibly humbling,” says Barnhill. That song went on to earn him a Grammy nomination as well as the respect of his peers that follows him today. Barnhill is in high demand as a writer and performer – he travels around the country to work with acclaimed songwriters and artists such as Kim Carnes, Michael McDonald, The Neville Brothers, Steve Cropper, Linda Thompson, Jason Scheff (Chicago), Howie Dorough (Backstreet Boys), and Nick Lachey. At his home in Nashville, Barnhill works tirelessly and constantly. His passion is palpable when you’re sharing the room with him – he has an energy and drive that doesn’t quit. Perhaps that energy is what makes Barnhill so highly regarded by his peers. As if his chart successes aren’t impressive enough, Barnhill has also recorded, written, and produced a number of TV themes and jingles. His clients have included “The Today Show,” “Fox and Friends,” “The View,” “Baywatch,” “Growing Pains,” “Murphy Brown,” Crown Royal, Tennessee Titans (NFL), Nashville Predators (NHL), and many other regional businesses and programs. Some have nicknamed Barnhill “Mr. Christmas” for his ability to write new holiday songs that sound like true classics. He has had holiday recordings by Lee Ann Womack, Tony Bennett, and thanks to the album Christmas Gumbo, a bevy of Louisiana’s finest artists. Barnhill wrote 14 all-new Christmas songs with fellow New Orleanian Will Robinson for the album which he also produced. “Working with these artists was a dream come true for me,” says Barnhill, “I have always wanted to showcase the talent that comes out of New Orleans and Louisiana.” Art and Aaron Neville, Irma Thomas, Allen Toussaint, Sonny Landreth, and Marc Broussard are among the featured artists. As a producer, Barnhill has been tapped to work with Broken Bow Records’ new artist Fidel Hernandez and has also worked a track from Jessica Simpson’s release In This Skin. Barnhill’s passionate performances and songs can be heard on his own acoustic songwriter album, No Chaser. More information: Greg Barnhill's All Music Guide entry
